Loudspeakers masquerade as paintings

Belgium company Masquerade offers a line of customisable loudspeakers for home theatre that look like paintings. By being able to have your loudspeakers printed with an image of your choice, its loudspeakers can look like the family portrait or any other work of art. The company says that this allows for a seamless integration of a 5.1 surround-sound system in the lounge, and so ends 'spousal discussions about sound equipment in the home environment’.

Audio visual equipment is often a disturbing element in a living room. Masquerade's solution is to 'mask' the loudspeakers behind a printable acoustically transparent fabric, so that the speakers brighten up the living room with images of choice. The company's line-up include general-purpose bass-reflex loudspeakers, centre speakers, sub woofers etc. Side speakers, at 7 cm deep, are slim enough to be paired with flat panel displays on walls.
