Innovative high performance enclosure fans suited for all conditions

Versatility, ease of installation, reliability and high performance are among the key benefits of the innovative new Tropico family of enclosure filter fans from Sarel. These fans are suitable for a wide range of demanding applications, says the company.

Covering flow rates from 38 m³/h to 860 m³/h, the Tropico filter fans are claimed to provide from 10% to 30% more airflow for a given cutout size than the industry standard. They are also fully reversible, allowing them to be used for extraction as well as ventilation. Fan motors are of the latest generation with greatly improved performance and longer service life. The range consists of four sizes 137 x 117, 170 x 150, 268 x 248 and 336 x 316 mm. Operating voltages are 230, 115, 400 V a.c. and 24 and 48 V d.c.

Unique is the wedge profile of the grilles with overlapping slats deep at the top and progressively narrowing to the bottom of the grille. Each slat is protected by the slat above and any water droplets drip off without entering the filter media. Made from self-extinguishing material, they also have superior resistance to ultra-violet light. They are thus equally suitable for indoor or outdoor applications.

Installation is said to be quick and easy by providing a simple square cutout and clipping in the fan or grille. Dust and water tightness is assured by foamed-in continuous gasket and a patented system of multiple fixing clips which will accommodate various enclosure wall thicknesses from 0,8 mm to 4,5 mm, and are compatible with GRP, stainless steel and mild steel enclosures. Anti-vandal fixings, to provide even greater security, are available as an option.

The fans and grilles are also provided with a patented filter mat drainage system in the event of water splashes. The standard rating is IP 54 and stainless steel IP 55 protection kits are available. The fan housings and grilles are moulded from plastic material with high mechanical strength. They can be ordered either in RAL7032 beige or RAL7035 grey. Filter media exchange is quick and easy, even when the fan is running and the operator is protected from contact.

There are three basic types of filters available: standard, fine and anti-insect. Special filters for applications in oily and greasy environment can be ordered. Accessories include thermostats, IP 55 protection kits, EMC conversion kits, etc.
