High-linearity amplifier IC has self-bias operation

16 May 2007 Analogue, Mixed Signal, LSI

Sirenza Microdevices released the SXE-1089Z, a new high-linearity cascadable pHEMT amplifier IC. According to the company, its patented self-bias Darlington topology, coupled with an e-mode pHEMT process, allows the SXE-1089Z to deliver performance normally found in discrete transistor or power amplifier topologies. The SXE-1089Z also offers fully integrated matching over 50 to 3000 MHz.

"The SXE-1089Z is ideal for PA driver applications for TD-SCDMA and WCDMA applications requiring high linearity," notes Jeff Gudewicz, Sirenza's SBU director. "The patented self-bias topology allows designers to easily integrate into single-supply, 5 V applications without the need for any external dropping resistors."

Key performance characteristics of this product include backed-off ACPR performance and bias stability over temperature. Operating at 5 V/128 mA, the SXE-1089Z delivers 13,2 dBm IS95 channel power (880 MHz) at -65dBc ACPR. Under WCDMA conditions at 2140 MHz, the SXE-1089Z delivers 9,5 dBm at

-65 dBc ACPR. P1dB is 22,9 dBm with 38,5 dBm OIP3 at 1960 MHz. It comes in a SOT-89 package.
