Industrial PC (IPC) manufacturer AAEON has released a new generation of high-end fanless vehicle computers, the AEC-6920, with high performance suitable for intelligent transportation system (ITS) and other car and factory control applications.
This IPC supports Intel's Core 2 Duo/Core Solo processors up to 2,0 GHz and is equipped with a high efficiency heat conduction mechanism. The system memory is one DDR2 SODIMM up to 2 GB. In addition, one PCI-Express, one PCI and two PCMCIA slots come equipped as standard for expansion that increases the flexibility of system installation. Moreover, three RS232, one RS232/422/485, two 10/100/1000Base-TX RJ-45 and four USB 2.0 ports allow communication with diverse devices with a high transfer rate. To cope with heat dissipation - always a primary challenge for IPC manufacturers - the AEC-6920 offers a cutting-edge, patented design in heat spreading.
To suit a broad range of applications, this IPC features a wide range power input from 9 to 30 V d.c., with AC input also possible with the addition of an external power adapter. The AEC-6920 operates up to 55°C, boasts a mean time before failure of up to 50 000 hours at 25°C and can cope with vibrations up to 5G (rms).
