EPIC form factor meets 1,8 GHz Pentium M

27 June 2007 Computer/Embedded Technology

Ampro has developed a solution in the tiny EPIC single board computer (SBC) form factor that supports the 1,8 GHz Pentium M 745 processor. Coupled with a rich set of I/O and ACPI power management, this board enables embedded system manufacturers and integrators to achieve a level of computation, communications, and graphics performance that usually require two separate boards or a large motherboard, such as in ATX format. What is more, Ampro's ReadySystem computers now feature this board for ready-to-run Windows XP and Linux applications.

At a mere 115 mm x 165 mm, the 1,8 GHz ReadyBoard 800 implements high CPU and I/O performance in a size that is 34% smaller than the Mini-ITX form factor. The Intel 82855 chipset is featured, with up to 1 GB DDR 333 SODIMM RAM, four USB 2.0 ports, four serial ports, two serial ports with RS422/485 capability, EIDE, Gigabit Ethernet, 10/100 Ethernet with Wake on LAN support, LVDS, eight general-purpose I/O (GPIO) pins, integrated chipset graphics, and PCI-104 expansion (PCI bus). The optional MiniModule ISA card provides a PCI-to-ISA bridge and compatibility with hundreds of commercial PC/104 (ISA bus) I/O cards.

For rapid deployment, Ampro offers this board in the ReadySystem 800 with a 40 GB hard drive and pre-loaded operating system. Customers can get this time-saving solution configured in a variety of ways to meet their requirements. Flexible ordering options include internal ATX power supply or external +12 V d.c. or +24 V d.c. input, a choice of 280 mm x 200 mm or 180 mm x 152 mm enclosure footprint, choice of RAM size up to 1 GB DDR 333, and hard drives up to 100 GB capacity. Hardware accessory kits allow the ReadySystem 800 to be mounted on a bench, wall, or in a rack.

To jump-start application development, the 1,8 GHz ReadyBoard 800 QuickStart Kit includes drivers and board support packages (BSPs) for Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, Windows CE, VxWorks, QNX, and a full Linux 2.6 distribution.
