Fibre-optic transmission offers the benefits of wide bandwidth, immunity to EMI/RFI interference, and secure data transmission. Advantech's ADAM-4541 can be used as an RS232/422/485 point-to-point or point-to-multipoint connection for transmitting and converting full/half-duplex signals and their equivalents within a fibre-optic environment. Fibre-optics are the ideal solution for applications where the transmission medium must be protected from electrical exposure, lightning, atmospheric conditions or chemical corrosion. The device provides stable and error-free data transmission with serial data speeds of up to 115,2 Kbps, while the fibre-optic interface enables transmission up to 2,5 km.
Easily mounted on a DIN-rail, panel or piggyback, the ADAM-4541 protects against lightning strikes, EMI/RFI interference and damage from electrostatic discharge. Operating in a half/full-duplex, bidirectional transmission mode the unit provides transient suppression and over-current protection on RS422/485 data lines with automatic internal RS485 bus supervision. No external flow control signals are required for RS485 and space is reserved for termination resistors.
The ADAM-4541 is specifically designed to link various machinery equipment with RS232/422/485 communication ports such as computer systems or manufacturing machines.
