Hammond Manufacturing has extended its ergonomically shaped and tactile handheld 1553 family, adding four new standard colours: translucent blue, red, safety yellow and black. Moulded in general purpose ABS, the units will typically be used for handheld instruments, remote controllers, flying lead machine controllers, test and measurement equipment, machine and robot controllers, detection equipment, datalogging units, peripherals and many other applications where a stylish, easy to hold enclosure is required.
The units fit comfortably into the hand and are available in two sizes of 117 x 79 mm and 147 x 89 mm. Both have a removable flat plastic front panel and are available with or without battery door and compartment. The over-moulded black soft side grips act both as styling points and also improve the comfort and fit of the unit. The battery compartments are complete with four clips for use with two AA batteries and a flying lead connector for a 9 V PP3 size. The top cover is recessed to allow a membrane keypad or display to be flush mounted and PCB standoffs are moulded into the base.
