Triaxial connector redesigned for easier assembly

19 September 2007 Interconnection

Fischer Connectors has redesigned its successful 1051 series of triaxial connectors in order to further improve upon its user friendliness.

Acknowledged for their high reliability and strength, the connectors are globally exploited in studios and outside broadcasting. Through long-term partnerships with the industry, Fischer says it has developed a deep understanding of broadcasters' needs and always tries to offer products that really simplify end-users' lives. Engineered to achieve greater flexibility and ergonomics, the new design of the 1051 plug and cable receptacle facilitates quicker assembly, maintenance and cable installation.

Made of new material, the redesigned 1051 series is lighter but still retains its high strength. The parts that make up the 1051 have been optimised and their number reduced, so that the assembly process is simplified, requiring no specific tools. When cabled, the new 1051 offers high versatility. Contact blocks are interchangeable, which greatly simplifies maintenance. The internal hermaphroditic parts of the connector allow a rapid change between male and female genders, or vice versa. To protect the connection and increase the durability of the equipment, the cable bend relief has been integrated into the connector design, while - for time saving and greater flexibility - the optional protective sleeves are easily detachable even when the connector is cabled.

Accepting external cables diameter from 8,3 to 11,3 mm, the series is fully compatible with its preceding model, providing an opportunity to seamlessly upgrade existing equipment.
