Maxim's MAX15020 is a high voltage DC-DC converter capable of delivering up to 2 A of output current, while operating with switching frequencies up to 500 kHz. The high switching frequency, along with the integrated high-side switch (0,18 Ω), reduces the number and size of external components required by the total solution, thus saving board space and reducing system cost. Operating over a wide 7,5 V to 40 V input voltage range, the device is suitable for automotive, industrial, and printer applications.
The MAX15020 utilises a feed-forward voltage-mode architecture to provide good noise immunity in high-voltage switching environments, and it allows external compensation for increased design flexibility. This converter offers internal switching frequencies of 300 kHz and 500 kHz, or it can be synchronised to an external clock ranging from 100 kHz to 500 kHz. To maximise flexibility, the MAX15020 allows designers to set the output voltage using two external resistors. An external reference input also provides the capability of dynamically adjusting the output voltage from 0,5 V to 36 V.
The MAX15020 provides protection features including configurable under-voltage lockout (UVLO), soft-start, thermal shutdown, cycle-by-cycle current limit and a hiccup-mode for output short-circuit protection. To save power during non-operation, the device offers a shutdown mode that reduces current consumption down to only 6 μA.
The MAX15020 is fully specified over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range and is available in a thermally enhanced, 5 x 5 mm, 20-pin TQFN package.
