Board-to-board interlocking connectors

Interconnection
Erni Electronics has expanded its popular 1,27 mm SMC connector family with the introduction of a new board-to-board right-angled SMC connector with an integrated locking system. The locking system can withstand the normal vibration and shock loads that occur with daily use, and still enable the connector to be disconnected without using any tools.
Both the female (Type Q) and the male (Type B) connectors are available with SMT termination. The plastic housing is constructed of high temperature-resistant LCP material, which makes the connector suitable for lead-free reflow soldering processes. The connectors are available in tape-and-reel packaging for automated pick-and-place assembly.
The connectors are currently available in a 12-pin configuration, with other pin configurations available upon request. The special contact lead design guarantees exact placement of the connectors on the PCB, and the co-planarity of the contacts guarantees a secure soldering process. The integrated solid metal SMT mounting clip secures the connector on the PCB for reliable mating and unmating.
Typical applications for this new connector family are additional extender cards for data or software, or PCB connections where interlocking is requested.
