Interconnection

Extended coaxial connector range

5 March 2008 Interconnection

Compel Electronics has extended its range of SMB series coaxial connectors by introducing new versions for PCB mounting.

The SMB connectors are part of a fairly versatile and practical series in that they are supplied with a snap-on coupling system, allowing for quick connection between the male and female connectors. This leads to advantages in terms of saving time during the coupling process. The possibility of using the connectors even in zones which are difficult to access due to lack of space, is maintained so that no particular tooling is necessary for the connection/disconnection of these connectors.

These new types have been designed to support all types of PCB available on the market. The connection to the printed circuit board is carried out by means of the traditional wave-soldering method for through-hole versions or by reflow soldering in the oven for SMT types.

Both straight and right-angled versions are available; amongst the latter types there is a version with a screw nut and washer for additional fixing to a front panel. These connectors are supplied in gold-plated versions, while other types of finish or shape can be produced on request.
