The DM2B series Mini SD connectors from Hirose are push-to-insert and push-to-eject devices. They eject the housed card 4 mm to allow users easy access on card removal. When inserted, the card is securely held in place but can be removed by applying a force of approximately 4 N or more. The connectors are 23,3 mm wide, 2,2 mm thick and 21,1 mm deep, which extends to 23,6 mm with a card inserted.
The card is securely held in three planes to give maximum security should the device be dropped and the card detect switch is normally open with the card inserted to minimise power consumption. The connectors have been tested for 10 000 mating cycles and are rated for operation between -25° and +85°C, with the contacts rated at 0,5 A. They are suitable for automatic placement and are lead-free.
