Dry packaging bags

23 July 2008 Circuit & System Protection

Surface mount technology has created devices which are increasingly sensitive to the damaging effects of moisture, corrosion and ESD. Actum Electronics' ESD product division, Altico, supplies a range of dry packaging bags to protect against these damaging influences. They meet or exceed the most critical requirements of water vapour transmission and ESD shielding, and also offer EMI protection.

The bags are heat-sealable and are suitable for vacuum and/or nitrogen flushed packaging. They are ideal for packaging of SMDs in trays, tubes or on tape and reel.

The Dryshield 7000 range are constructed from layers (from outside to inside) of dissipative PET/Alu/PET/Alu/dissipative LDPE, for a total thickness of 0,09 mm ±10%, and are amine free and polycarbonate compatible. The bags have puncture resistance of 138 kPa, and are printed with ESD and moisture warning symbols, date and lot code for traceability. Total static shielding is less than 10 nJ, EMI attenuation is 45 dB and static decay is less than 0,01 seconds to meet or exceed IEC 61340-5-1.

Dryshield 7700 bags feature the same properties as Dryshield 7000, but with extra-thick dissipative layers that double the bags' thickness, and higher puncture resistance of 241 kPa.
