Maxim's new MAX15009 and MAX15011 are highly integrated, 300 mA automotive linear regulators with switched outputs and load-dump protection. Designed to withstand harsh operating conditions, these LDOs operate over a wide, 5 V to 40 V supply-voltage range, protect against load-dump transients up to 45 V, and provide short-circuit and thermal-shutdown protection. To save space and cost in automotive applications, they provide an additional low-resistance switched output that can be used to independently power remote loads. The devices provide independent enable inputs for the linear regulator, switched output and overvoltage protector (MAX15009 only) for better control of each function. They consume only 70 μA of quiescent current in a standalone configuration, and 16 μA in shutdown mode. Well suited for always-on circuits, they provide enable and hold inputs for 'key off' conditions.
