Networked energy saving controller

6 August 2008 Computer/Embedded Technology

The i.LON SmartServer from Echelon is used to control, monitor and manage virtually any electronic device in a control network. It is suitable for developing and deploying energy management solutions for retail stores, quick-service restaurants, and other businesses, as well as for monitored street lighting systems.

Whether for upgrading or designing a network from scratch, the device can aid in reducing energy use. It is easy to deploy and manage, and works both locally and remotely. The programmability expands the i.LON SmartServer's feature set by writing customised applications for energy optimisation, data analysis, room and lighting control and more.

The server can run up to 10 simultaneous custom programs. Users can also write custom drivers so that the module can act as a gateway to legacy systems or other networks that are not natively supported, such as BACnet and KNX.
