Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced the new C10000-401 TDI CCD camera, featuring the latest state-of-the-art high-speed, and high-sensitivity, back thinned CCD image sensors.
The newly developed CCD has 2048 pixel length by 128 pixel height (each with 12 micron x 12 micron pixel size), boasts a peak quantum efficiency in excess of 90%, and very high UV sensitivity, with IR sensitivity out to 1200 nm. With a 4 tap output, the camera can achieve very high speed data readout with up to 50 kHz line rates.
Ordinarily, high-speed imaging systems suffer from a lack of available light and special illumination systems need to be constructed. Using the TDI (time delay integration) image acquisition method however, the C10000 series of cameras synchronise charge transfer with the moving object, thus giving 128 times the image integration time of a conventional line sensor, and when combined with the high sensitivity of the back thinned CCD chip, results in an output two or three orders of magnitude greater than any regular line scan camera.
The features of this new board camera make it ideal for applications in low light level and high-speed industrial inspection, especially where good UV and NIR sensitivity are required. The C10000 series is used for the inspection of high-volume products such as flat panel and LCD displays, Web inspection, electronics and PC board inspection, plastic and glass inspection, biomedical instrumentation and many other in-line industrial inspection applications.
