The 2125 dual-axis accelerometer from Memsic is a low-cost thermal accelerometer capable of measuring dynamic acceleration (vibration) and static acceleration (gravity) with a range of ±3 G. For integration into existing applications, the device is said to be electrically compatible with other popular accelerometers.
The device is capable of measurements over the full range from 0 to 3 G with finer than 1 mG resolution and provides a simple pulse output of G-force for x and y axes. It is temperature compensated over a 0 to 70°C range and it outputs temperature as an analog value. The IC operates from either 3,3 V or 5 V and draws less than 4 mA at 5 V d.c.
Target applications of the thermal accelerometer include dual-axis tilt sensing for autonomous robotics applications, single-axis rotational position sensing, movement/lack-of-movement sensing for alarm systems and R/C hobby projects such as autopilots.
