Mini-ITX board supports HDMI

12 November 2008 Computer/Embedded Technology

Advantech’s new AIMB-221 is a Mini-ITX motherboard with HDMI support, designed around the AMD M690E and SB600 chipsets, and supporting AMD Turion and Sempron processors. The motherboard features dual display support for HDMI, LVDS panel and CRT (VGA). The integrated ATI Radeon graphics controller offers outstanding 3D graphics performance and full DirectX 9 support. The board also provides plenty of connectivity features, including dual GbE LANs.

For top graphics performance, the AIMB-221 supports the Turion 64x2 processor for 64-bit operating systems, while for a low-power approach, a Sempron 2100+ processor running at 1,0 GHz makes for fanless installations. The high-speed HyperTransport interface bus between processor and chipset runs at a data rate of 800 MHz, and supports the new generation of S1g1 processors. Two 200-pin SODIMM sockets can take up to 4 GB of DDR2 533/667 SDRAM.

Expansion capabilities include one PCI and one MINI PCI slot, plus I/O with six serial ports (five RS232, one RS232/422/485), four SATA II, one IDE, eight USB 2.0, and CF type I/II. Also included are 8-bit GPIO, watchdog timer, and optional Trusted Platform Module (TPM). The AIMB-221 supports Windows XP, Vista, Linux, XP-embedded and WinCE 6.0.
