Motorola's 68HC908GP32 is a member of the company's 8 bit flash family. The MCU is designed with built-in FLASHwire programming technology which uses a single wire interface for programming code in-circuit. Combined with flash memory programming time of only 2 ms for a 64 byte block, the unit enables product designers to lower production costs and shorten time to market. Additionally, it boasts write/erase cycles of more than 10K giving added flexibility for reprogrammability while in field use.
The combination of highly flexible general purpose I/O (GPIO) pins, including software programmable pull-ups, and a rich set of on-board peripherals helps speed many mainstream 8-bit MCU designs. In addition, the 68HC908GP32 has over 50% more flash memory with software functionality than previous families members which makes it particularly suitable in applications requiring network and Internet-connectivity for 8-bit systems.
The 68HC908GP32 has an optimum mix of memory and peripherals. It features an easy-to-learn 68HC08 instruction set, which includes MULTiply and DIVide instructions. It contains 32 256 bytes of in-system programmable flash memory, 512 bytes of user RAM, an auto wake-up out of stop capability, and further GPIO integration to reduce system cost.
Additional features include a 32kHz compatible oscillator and on-chip PLL, low voltage inhibit, internal pull-ups, high current I/O, serial ports, and A/D converter. The 68HC908GP32 operates from 2,7 to 5,5 V at a -40 to +85°C range. Packaging options include 44-pin QFP, 42-pin SDIP and 40-pin PDIP.
