New from Maxim is the MAX9610, a high-side, current-sense amplifier designed for battery-operated devices.
It uses a precision input stage to achieve an extended, 1,6 V to 5,5 V input common-mode range (battery voltage). This input range is suitable for monitoring the current of a single-cell, lithium-ion (Li+) battery, which at full-charge is 4,2 V, typically 3,6 V in normal use, and less than 2,9 V when ready to be recharged.
The MAX9610 provides a 1 μA supply current to extend battery life, a low 500 μV VOS and ±0,5% gain error for enhanced precision. Available in tiny microDFN and SC70 packages, this high-accuracy device is ideal for monitoring USB ports and single-cell, Li+ batteries in portable electronics.
The voltage-output device is offered in three gain options: 25 V/V, 50 V/V, and 100 V/V. An external sense resistor can be used to set the maximum sense voltage at full-scale battery load current.
