SD-MMC voltage level translator

15 April 2009 Analogue, Mixed Signal, LSI

Engineers can now bridge the gap between two disparate voltage nodes while maintaining digital switching compatibility by using a tiny, highly integrated secure digital (SD)/multimedia card (MMC) level shifter from Texas Instruments. The translator’s auto-direction circuitry simplifies board design by eliminating the need for customers to program a general purpose input/output (GPIO) on a processor for direction control and thereby reduces the number of required pins. Housed in a 2 x 1,6 mm wafer chip-scale package (WCSP), the TXS0206 features clock frequencies up to 52 MHz and data rates up to 60 Mbps. It supports 1,2, 1,5, 1,8, 2,5 and 3,3 V power supply voltages and integrates SD-compliant pull-up resistors. IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection is built-in, as is data line EMI filter circuitry.
