The Hirose U.FL series is a miniature coaxial connector with mated plug and receptacle profiles as low as 2 mm, rising to 2,5 mm depending on the cable size. The mounting area for the receptacle occupies only 7,7 mm² allowing optimum space saving.
Although compact and lightweight, the connector can handle high transmission speeds of up to 6 GHz, making it suitable for a range of miniature devices using wireless communication modules, wireless LAN, GPS and Bluetooth etc. Mating and unmating of the connector is very simple and a tactile click confirms that the connector is fully mated. The plugs use ultra fine fluorinated resin insulated cable to assure secure and stable connection. Many different cable diameters and single- or double-ended cable lengths are available.
Due to the success of the U.FL series, Hirose has introduced a new U.FL commodity version. This range can offer the same characteristics, fit, form and function as the standard U.FL but is more cost effective by using tin plating on the outer conductor of the cable rather than the standard silver plating, without compromising any performance levels. The cable diameters applicable to this range are 0,8 mm, 1 mm, 1,13 mm, 1,32 mm, 1,37 mm in lengths from 35 mm to 2000 mm.
