Expanding the company’s line of Fusion digital power controllers, Texas Instruments has introduced a new dual-output, multiphase synchronous buck controller that can support various point-of-load configurations.
The UCD9220 provides 250 picoseconds of pulse-width-modulation, a 2 MHz switching frequency and high DC conversion ratios, while maintaining stable operation. The flexible controller meets complex power design requirements in telecommunications, server, data storage and industrial test and measurement applications. Designers can use the Digital Power Designer, a full-featured graphical user interface, to configure the device easily and speed time-to-market.
Flexible digital power control enables full-loop compensation, including on-linear control for enhanced transient performance and system reliability. Phase current balancing ensures uniform power dissipation, while the configurable switching frequency up to 2 MHz increases bandwidth and allows the use of small passive components to save board space. The device includes optimised power management features to enhance performance, such as PMBus configurable voltage setting, sequencing, power-up and power-down timing and fault response.
