New from Vishay is a compact SMD IR receiver optimised for sensor and light barrier systems. With its fast reaction times, insensitivity to supply voltage ripple and EMI noise, and low supply current of 0,85 mA at 5 V, the fixed gain device provides consistent performance in all ambient light conditions. The TSOP5038 offers a high fixed gain in all ambient light environments, and allows a short burst repetition time that results in a fast 300 μs reaction time. Continuous signals at 38 kHz or 38 kHz bursts may be used to drive the IR emitter. To simplify the design, the device has an internal IR filter to suppress visible light, and integrates a photo detector and preamplifier. It offers a 0,5 mW/m² typical irradiance and a supply voltage from 2,7 V to 5,5 V. The receiver is complaint with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.
