Miniature double-row connector system

8 July 2009 Interconnection

Hirose’s DF11 connector range features receptacles and headers that have been designed with space saving in mind to meet the high demand for miniaturisation.

The innovative design of the double-row housing is within 5 mm width, allowing more contacts to be provided in the same space as a conventional single-row housing.

The connector housing incorporates special ribs to prevent incorrect insertion and twisting of the mating connector. A simple lock structure and four wall box style housing confirms that the connector is fully mated. The connector is in full compliance with UL/CSA standards.

Many varieties are available, such as crimp sockets, vertical headers, right angle headers, in-line headers and vertical receptacles to offer board-to-board solutions. Further options allow the choice of through-hole or surface mounting, with tin or gold plating. The crimp contacts can accept cable sizes from AWG22 to AWG30, while the number of positions ranges from four to 40.

The wide range of target applications includes digital cameras, PDA, LCD displays, digital video recorders, car navigation, access control units, set-top boxes and other portable devices.
