Right angle and edge mount connector strips

22 July 2009 Interconnection

Samtec has expanded its Edge Rate product line with the addition of 0,8 mm pitch right angle and edge mount connector strips for perpendicular and co-planar applications. These systems feature rugged contacts which minimise broadside coupling, decrease crosstalk between adjacent contacts, and offer low insertion/withdrawal forces and high cycles.

Edge Rate right angle (EFM8-RA/ERF8-RA) and edge mount (ERM8-EM/ERF8-EM series) terminals and sockets offer up to 150 I/Os in single-ended or differential pair configurations with a standard choice of 10 to 75 positions per row (dependent on orientation). Suitable for rugged and harsh environments, these strips are robust when zippered during unmating and feature an optional rugged metal latching system.

These new connectors may also mate with the Edge Rate board stacking system (ERM8/ERF8 Series). Cable mates for the strips include 34 AWG EyeSpeed micro coax high-speed (ERCD series) and signal integrity-optimising ‘direct-to-lead’ (ERCDA series) cable assemblies, 30 AWG EyeSpeed Twinax high-speed cable assemblies (ERDP series) and high-speed flex data links with Edge Rate contacts (ERDL2 series).
