RJ45 with integrated magnetics saves space and eliminates manufacturing failures

Interconnection
By integrating magnetic components inside a shielded jack connector housing, FCI says its Netjack RJ45 connector saves PCB space, simplifies components placement and helps products comply with EMC requirements.
With an industry standard RJ45 footprint, the modular Netjack connector offers a choice of magnetic assemblies to meet with 10/100Base-T, ATM and Token Ring specifications. By moving custom common mode choke and transformer configurations inside the connector, equipment designers can reduce PCB size or accommodate additional circuitry instead.
Manufactured to be compatible with all regular wave solder, IR and vapour phase manufacturing processes, product failures resulting from differences in thermal expansion rates of the PCB and discrete magnetic component packages are avoided. In addition, with integrated magnetics, the number of component placement operations are reduced.
Netjack RJ45 connectors are currently offered in single row format, in 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8 port sizes and are available as surface mount or through-hole types. The connectors' one-piece enhanced shield design and choice of grounding options simplifies compliance with the requirements of electromagnetic compatibility standards.
