UHF radio modem

Satel’s SATELLINE-2ASc is a small, lightweight radio modem used for diverse applications in half-duplex data message transfer, and features a synthesised 80-channel radio operating in the 380–470 MHz frequency range. The accompanying RS232 interface facilitates trouble-free connections to many data terminals and systems.

Data speed can be selected in the range 300–4800 bps (with 25 kHz channel spacing) or 300–2400 bps (with 20 kHz channel spacing). There are two methods of initiating data relay with the modem: by sending data over the TD line or by using RTS/CTS handshaking. RTS/CTS handshaking is only necessary in systems with strict timing requirements.

In reception mode, a data squelch circuit built into the modem prevents imitation characters (from eg, radio interference) from entering the RD line. The output signals from the radio include an analog RSSI (received signal strength indicator).
