DMP recently released the Vortex86DX, an x86 compatible system-on-chip incorporating CPU, North and South bridges and a wide range of peripherals. Based on a 90 nm process, it provides power consumption of less than 1 W. The chip runs at 1 GHz and integrates features such as RS232, parallel port, USB 2.0, DDR2 RAM controller, PCI bus (rev 2.1), IDE, GPIO, BIOS, watchdog timer, power management, MTBF counter, LAN and JTAG, all packaged into a 581-pin BGA chip. The Vortex86DX is a 32-bit x86 processor with the ability to run Windows XP and related operating systems.
