Rugged slim-body interfaces

The Q Rate system is Samtec’s new generation of high-speed, controlled impedance interconnects featuring its rugged Edge Rate contact system. The contacts, combined with an integral metal power/ground plane (rated to 8,9 A), provide good electrical performance, while its slim 5 mm body design makes it well suited for applications with limited PCB real estate.
The 0,8 mm pitch Q Rate high-speed system (QRM8/QRF8 series) boasts a performance rating of 9,5 GHz SE and 8,5 GHz DP at a 7 mm stack height and
-3 dB insertion loss. The design and positioning of the contacts and ground plane minimise the effects of broadside coupling, which decreases crosstalk between pins. The contact system also provides for high cycles and low insertion/ withdrawal force and features a long 1,2 mm contact wipe distance which improves the allowable angle during mating and unmating.
Q Rate interfaces are available in a vertical orientation with 26, 52, or 78 contacts per row (52 per bank) and a choice of standard stack heights from 7 mm to 10 mm. Optional guide posts are also available, and a right angle version is in development.
