Interconnects safe for fingers

Molex has expanded its Sabre product line with UL 1950 finger-proof rated crimp terminals, headers, receptacles and plugs for wire-to-wire or wire-to-board connector systems. These 7,50 mm pitch power connectors eliminate the possibility of a live circuit from coming in direct contact with human touch while connector halves are unmated.
To meet this UL standard, the connector mating halves must pass a UL finger-probe test. To meet this test, Molex developed the series 43178 male crimp terminals, with a shorter overall length than existing terminals, as well as series 46007 right-angle headers, with shorter male contacts as compared to the standard 43160 series right-angle header contacts. The shortened male terminals are set farther back within the plug and header housings, out of the UL probe’s reach. The existing Sabre receptacle and female terminal combination passed the UL probe test without any additional housing or crimp terminal enhancements.
