Coaxial connectors for broadcast transmission systems

3 March 2010 Interconnection

Radiall has introduced its new ‘True’ BNC 75 Ω HDTV coaxial connector series that can handle data rates of 3 Gbps or higher while supporting the broadcast industry’s SMPTE 292M and 424M standards.

These connectors feature gold plated centre and outer contacts, which provide high electrical performance with a frequency range of up to 6 GHz, optimised at 3 GHz. In addition, they are intermateable with standard 50 and 75 Ω BNC products, and offer good mechanical performance and durability with 1000 mating cycles guaranteed. The connectors are field installable on most coaxial cables using hand-crimping tools and have coloured cable boots available for easy coding of video signals.

The connector series has been developed for use in broadcast studios and broadcast transmission systems such as cameras, video recorders, routers, switching, monitoring and signal measurement and control systems.
