Ready-to-use data centres from a single source

The construction of a data centre involves many disciplines. The process starts with architecture and construction, and includes fire protection and safety, right through to electrical engineering and climate control.

The competences of IT departments often apply to only a small part of the project’s requirements. It is therefore advantageous to cooperate with a provider that offers the widest possible range of products and services related to data centres – from one single source. To this end, Rittal has now integrated the solution expertise provided by Lampertz and Litcos, which were formerly Rittal subsidiaries.

This move gives Rittal, at a stroke, the ability to plan and build turnkey data centres for its customers. The services of the new organisation cover all issues relating to data centres – every action is coordinated, from initial site assessment to hardware to service. This comprehensive approach reduces the complexity for customers and provides an orderly project flow, providing a unique, globally available portfolio of data centre solutions.

“By integrating Litcos and Lampertz, we are taking a logical step towards combining planning expertise with product know-how and service in order to offer a comprehensive skills package”, says Michael Girg, president at Lampertz and Senior Vice President of Sales (Germany) at Rittal: “For our customers, this means having to deal with fewer contact partners and interfaces, which means shorter project durations and access to a global service network.”

Expertise interlinked

Lampertz, a leading provider in the design and construction of entire data centres, came to Rittal in 1998 and is said to be the world number one in the physical data and system security of IT infrastructure. It has a comprehensive approach to security that involves the protective value and the budget needed to maintain the business processes. Lampertz provides its customers not just with expertise in planning but also offers a wide range of products; for example, modular IT security rooms and modular safes for use as mini data centres. In addition, with its outdoor data centre, Lampertz designs and operates complete plug-and-play solutions for the temporary and mobile use of IT systems.

Litcos specialises in realising maximum availability IT structures for business-critical processes. The company, a consulting and planning specialist, covers all data centre specific consulting services – from relocation planning and migration and consolidation strategies to site evaluation and overall planning.
