Interpoint's MSS Series family of DC-DC converters features a built-in EMI filter which meets the requirements of MIL-STD-461E, CE102 (no external components required); an output that can be adjusted by as much as 12 V; and an output filter to reduce output ripple. The MSS Series' 125 W converters measure 16,8 x 61,0 x 11,4 mm replacing the industry standard configuration of three separate modules - EMI filter, converter and output filter - with one module which reduces the total footprint and minimises interconnects. Controls include synchronisation to an external clock (sync in) for system control or to other converters (sync out) to prevent beat frequencies; inhibit for remote shut-down and restart; and remote sense for maintaining full voltage at the load. Operating temperature is -55° to +100°C with derating to zero power at 135°C.
The first release in this series, MSS-MHL has 125 W output power, an 80 to 400 V d.c. input range, and 2,5 to 6 V adjustable output. The next model in the series will be the MSS-MHH with the same power and input range but with a 6 to 18 V output range. Other 125 W models will have a 16 to 75 V d.c. input range.
All of the MSS series of converters are constructed from surface mount components soldered to a PCB. The PCB is attached to a lightweight, metal-matrix composite baseplate which provides the high thermal conductivity of aluminium but has the advantage of a low coefficient of thermal expansion. The converters are potted for high reliability in harsh environments and offer two screening levels of shock and vibration in addition to burn-in.
