High-density coax cable assembly

Interconnection
Samtec’s new SEARAY coax cable assembly (SEAC series) is the latest addition to its extensive line of high-speed, high-density interconnect solutions.
The system offers 180 or 240 contacts (six or eight rows, 30 positions per row) on 1,27 mm pitch and mates with SEARAY open pin field sockets (SEAF-LP series). Half the contacts are dedicated to grounds. A 36 AWG, 50 Ω coax cable provides single-ended routing ideal for longer cable assemblies and more complex pinouts.
The new assembly features Samtec’s rugged Edge Rate contact system which is optimised for signal integrity, low insertion/extraction forces and robust ‘zippering’ during unmating. It also comes standard with a positive latching system for increased retention/withdrawal force. SEARAY high-density array products also include board level terminals and sockets, right angle sockets for perpendicular and micro backplane applications, and high density flex jumpers. They feature an open pin field configuration for routing and design flexibility along with Edge Rate contacts, optional guide posts and a choice of tin-lead or lead-free solder charged terminations for ease of processing. Press-fit tail terminations are also in development.
