Power units for security systems

9 June 2010 Power Electronics / Power Management

The SCP-35 (35 W), SCP-50 (50 W), SCP-75 (75 W) series are new AC/DC, enclosed type, single-output security power units from Mean Well.

Featuring a constant voltage output design, these series provide energy for battery charging and also for peripheral security devices from the residual electrical power, in order to fulfil the special requirement of security systems, access control, alarm systems or battery backup applications. Compare to Mean Well’s previous models, the SCP series has 8 times more charging capability and increases the working efficiency by 10–12%, as well as featuring low no-load power consumption (<0,75 W).

With a high-frequency switching topology, the SCP-35/50/75 series accepts input from 85 to 264 V a.c. They boast up to 86% operating efficiency and can operate under 60°C ambient temperature using only free air convection, in accordance with the airtight working environments of security systems and hence they are suitable to install into security system cabinets. The power supplies offer both terminal block and wires for output connection.

Built-in functions include battery voltage detection, battery temperature compensation (by external NTC thermistor), battery polarity protection (by fuse), and protections for short circuit, overload and over-voltage. They comply with the global safety certificates per UL, CUL, CB and CE.
