Quad DAC achieves 1 GSps

Analog Devices has introduced a high-speed quad DAC (digital-to-analog converter) that provides support for multi-antenna wireless communications standards requiring the large bandwidths demanded by DPD (digital pre-distortion) transmit systems. The 16-bit AD9148 has a 1 GSps data rate and its 12 x 12 mm package size allows designers of WCDMA, CDMA2000, TD-SCDMA, GSM and WiMax infrastructure equipment and other wireless applications to reduce PCB space. A 32-bit on-chip NCO (numerically controlled oscillator) is provided for complex modulation schemes, and the DAC performs two times, four times and eight times interpolation. It also features a dual-port, time-interleaved LVDS interface with single port or Byte-mode support to enable high data rates. An 8-deep FIFO memory eases timing layout.
