'Pick a Back' smartcard connector

The 'Pick a Back' smartcard connector from Amphenol is designed for satellite TV decoders. The unit was designed to combine two smartcard connectors into one assembly thereby increasing efficiency in the assembly process at the OEM user, as well as reducing general handling costs since only one part number must be ordered.

The lower smartcard connector in designed to be the conditional access card slot and allows variable thickness smartcards to be inserted. The upper smartcard connector was designed to be a 'pay per view' card slot and allows the insertion of chip cards with the chip in the upward position, as well as insertion of the smartcard with the chip in the downward position - the card will be read in either case.
