The MP4688 from Monolithic Power Systems is a 1 A, 80 V input-voltage buck WLED driver for HB LED lighting applications. A proprietary adaptive hysteresis current mode control scheme delivers accurate LED current regulation and requires minimal external components. The IC is available in an SOIC8E package and is targeted at applications such as HB LED street lights, automotive accessory lighting, and illumination and general lighting.
The device offers a 4,5 V to 80 V operating input range and provides efficiency as high as 95%.Switching frequency is up to 20 MHz while dimming frequency is up to 20 kHz. The IC features a dedicated PWM dimming control input, as well as open circuit and thermal protection.
