The new universal current transducer MCR-SL-CUC-X00 I from Phoenix Contact can sense currents with any waveform and converts them into a standard analog signal of 4–20 mA.
These modules replace the complex DC current measurement with its associated losses that is classically implemented using shunt resistors. Shunt resistors are cost-intensive and generally cannot be mounted on DIN rails.
As a result of their low tolerances, these CTs can also be used in control circuits to track solar panels or to adjust the pitch of wind turbines. They are available in versions from 0 to 100 A, 200 A and 300 A and can detect currents in the frequency range from 20 to 6000 Hz. The modules are suited for use in small control cabinets as a result of their compact dimensions. They offer a wide range of mounting options as well as pluggable connection technology, which allows the electrical connection to the current transducer to be quickly and reliably established.
