Sierra Wireless announced that its AirPrime SL6087 EDGE wireless module has won the GSMA’s Embedded Mobile Module award in the ‘Best 2G Module’ category.
The judges recognised the module for offering a cost-effective and innovative EDGE solution in a compact LGA form factor, and for the powerful application framework which enables developers of M2M devices to embed their application software onto the module itself.
The AirPrime SL6087 is a quad-band EDGE wireless module in a standard 25 x 30 mm LGA form factor. It can be used as a simple modem controlled via AT commands. It can also host and natively execute a standard ANSI C/C++ application thanks to its application framework that includes an operating system (Open AT), a comprehensive set of service APIs and a suite of development tools. The AirPrime SL6087 is available with Embedded SIM as an option. Once deployed in the field, it can be monitored and upgraded over the air thanks to its ready-to-use management services.
