Weller’s WX 2 is a powerful and easy-to-use two-channel soldering station. A variety of connectivity options, intelligent soldering tools and a number of brand new features make it well suited for today‘s requirements when it comes to soldering work on LED backplanes, solar applications and micro soldering joints.
The 240 W system is capable of supplying 120 W to two tools simultaneously, or up to 200 W to a single tool, providing short heating times. The LCD touch screen is not only intuitive and easy to use, with its turn-and-click wheel, enter key and finger guide, but also robust against static, chemical attack and high temperatures.
Versatile connectivity options include two connections which can be used for managing fume extraction units, heating plates and programmable logic controllers (PLC), as well as standard digital and decoupled robot connection. Temperature, speed and status messages are shown on the LCD display. A multipurpose USB port enables quick and localised firmware updates, parameter configuration and logging capabilities via USB stick.
The WX 2 is compatible with Weller’s range of intelligent tools. With a built-in analog to digital converter and data memory in the soldering bit handle, the bit itself can be calibrated, meaning that calibration of the soldering station is not required. The soldering bit has an energy-saving sleep mode which it enters automatically, based on a sensor in the handle which detects when the device is in use. All connected accessories such as fume extractors and heating plates also go into sleep mode.

Read more...Understanding solder dross: causes and control strategies Truth Electronic Manufacturing
Editor's Choice Manufacturing / Production Technology, Hardware & Services
Dross formation is an inevitable consequence of wave soldering. It occurs when molten solder comes into contact with oxygen, forming metal oxides that float on the surface of the solder bath. Over time, this oxidation byproduct accumulates and must be removed to maintain solder quality and process consistency.
