DC drive controller

2 March 2011 Power Electronics / Power Management

In addition to WAGO’s standard DC drive controller for positioning 24 V d.c. motors with collectors, two 750-636 I/O modules are now available; one for an extended temperature range and one for use in isolated safety functions.

The ‘T’ version in the 750-636 I/O series can be used in a temperature range between -20°C and + 60°C. This allows it to be employed for applications in specialty and special-purpose vehicles and environments in which air conditioning and heating are difficult to implement. The ‘R’ non-interacting modules have no active influence on down-circuit safety functions. Using these modules, actuator assemblies can be deactivated using centralised safety switching devices. The I/O modules, even in the event of a fault in the module, reliably prevent harmful effects on the safety functions.

All versions are single-channel modules that supply a rated motor current of 5 A. An incremental sensor interface allows acquisition of the actual values using both 5 V and 24 V sensors. Three 24 V inputs detect the limit switches and a preset signal. Typical uses of the DC drive controller include setting limit stops and roller pressure, as well as for operation of transport carriages and dosing units.
