Plastic enclosures

A new, robust range of wall-mounted and table-top enclosures is now available from OKW. The SMART-BOX is characterised by an elegant design concept with gently rounded corners and some technical refinements. This opens up many different application options in electrical installation or in the classical fields of electronics.

With the exception of the trims, the SMART-BOX range of enclosures was designed as a two-part system consisting of a bottom and a top part. The trims snap into the top part and cover the entire fixtures. They are simply folded out to open and close the enclosure or to mount it on the wall. The SMART-BOX is available in five sizes: 90 x 120 mm, 90 x 160 mm, 110 x 200 mm as well as 130 x 160 mm and 170 x 280 mm (W x L), and the heights range from 50 mm for the 90 mm width to 60 mm for all other widths. The size 110 x 200 mm is particularly suitable for using the Eurocard (100 x 160 mm).

The bottom part of the enclosure has the relevant attachment domes. The enclosure is screwed together using four special screws for which the required thread has been tapped in the bottom part, thus making additional threaded bushes superfluous. For wall mounting, the base of the enclosure has four holes whose centre-to-centre spacings are given on the back of the enclosure. Wall attachment is effected outside the electronics compartment, so that fully mounted units can also be fixed to the wall.

The standard enclosure already has a wide range of fittings; for example, a factory-fitted seal, which guarantees the high protection level IP66, is included in the scope of delivery. The light grey (RAL 7035) ABS material used is designed to be flame resistant (ABS FR UL 94 V-0). The special screws for assembling the enclosure are made of rustproof stainless steel. Two cover holders are supplied with each enclosure. They hold the top and bottom part together when opening the enclosure, thus facilitating preassembly and maintenance work. A lock which can be mounted at any time without requiring any further work is the only thing for which there is an additional charge. This protects the enclosure and its contents from unauthorised access.
