High-density interconnects

16 March 2011 Interconnection

The new DMM series from Nicomatic is a robust, compact and shock resistant connector registered under the MICRO-D-MIX trademark. It is available in an all-LF or mixed-layout configuration, with high-frequency and/or high-power contacts with possible arrangements of between one and four rows of contacts with up to 120 contacts total.

The connectors offer high pin density (2 mm pitch for signal contacts), as well as hybrid contacts (low-frequency, high-frequency, high-power) which contribute to equipment miniaturisation. Compared to Micro-D connectors, they offer higher density, lower profile and a lighter solution. Nicomatic fixings are the same whether using a male or female connector, covers are mountable without modifying the front or rear panel and the philosophy of the system is to be modular with simple and universal concepts. The addition of a metal shield enables resistance to exterior factors such as electromagnetic interference and grounding. The cover design is an alternative to the back shell and leads to cost reduction.

The MICRO-D-MIX’s compact design is suitable for miniature and portable devices or equipment used in the field, as well as onboard electronics, rack and panel. They are designed and tested to withstand extreme conditions and comply with MIL-DTL-83513G (Micro-D standard). The qualification tests are passed with the EIA procedure. The same panel cutout can be used for either male or female connectors as the shape and size are identical; this is true for both rear and front mounting.
