Samtec has introduced a new interconnect ideal for multiple-connector, board-to-board applications facing potential misalignment issues. With a floating contact system that provides 0,5 mm of float in the X and Y directions, the connectors can absorb location errors during mounting on the PCB or due to gaps created when the PCBs are secured after the connectors are mated.
The micro rugged floating contact system terminals (FT5 series) and sockets (FS5 series) are a highly reliable surface mount system available with 30 or 60 contacts (15 or 30 per row). The socket has a standard 4 mm body height while the terminal is available in 1 mm or 3 mm body heights for a choice of 5 mm or 7 mm overall mated heights. A through-hole weld tab for further stability in rugged or harsh environments is standard. Additional lead counts, stack heights and a surface mount weld tab are also available. The terminal is also offered in a right angle design for micro backplane applications.
