New from Texas Instruments is a floating-point microcontroller for extreme temperature operation from


-55°C to 210°C. The 32-bit SM320F28335-HT Delfino provides real-time measurement and control for manufacturers of electronics operating in harsh and hot environments, such as down-hole drilling, commercial jet engines, motor control, military applications, and medical instruments and surgical tools requiring sterilisation. The device boasts 100 MHz CPU speed, 512 KB of embedded Flash memory and 68 KB internal RAM. Its integrated, control-oriented peripherals - six high-resolution PWM outputs at 150 ps and a high-speed, 16-channel, 12-bit ADC - are offered to provide high precision.
