Custom cable assemblies

13 April 2011 Interconnection

The company employs an extensive range of automation so that it can supply the cable assemblies at attractive prices. Among other things, it has invested in a fully automated cable assembly system. For example, the MiniBridge cable connectors with a 1,27 mm pitch are available fully assembled with the relevant number of pins (2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12). PVC, high-temperature and halogen-free cables and the relevant MiniBridge connectors are kept in stock for short-time delivery.

Up to 5000 cable connectors per shift can be assembled and tested using the fully automatic system. The high-performance system processes cables between 41 and 800 mm in length. Every assembly step that is required is carried out automatically within seconds, ie, flexible cable printing, cutting to length and termination. The assembled cables then undergo electrical testing with 1 A and an insulation voltage of 400 V as standard with regard to the connection (continuity) and insulation.

In order to meet strict requirements in railway, road and safety systems, testing can take place with up to 2 A and 1500 V. The assembly process is followed by a visual inspection based on a camera system, which examines the position of the termination contacts in accordance with predefined criteria. In addition to customer-specific versions, assembled PVC cables are also available in standard lengths of 100, 200 and 300 mm.
