VGA touch-screens

3 August 2011 Computer/Embedded Technology

Pro-Face has released two new 5,6-inch VGA touch screens designed for HMI applications where space is at a premium. The new AGP3310 and AGP3360 offer high-resolution graphics, along with two serial ports each for connection to external PCs.

Both models feature motor controllers, a modem and bar-code readers. Two USB ports are also standard for connection to a modem, mass storage device, keyboard or biometric device. There is also an Ethernet port and a Compact Flash slot on each model. Backlight illumination is via high-brightness white LEDs, which offer high reliability and power savings over traditional CCFL lamps. The models have an IP65F rating for protection against low-pressure washdown and oil mist.

The AGP3360 model is a multimedia variant. It offers a video input and sound input interface. Live video can be displayed in high clarity, and video and sound can also be recorded to either CF card, memory stick or via FTP transfer to a PC. This feature can be activated on the touch- screen by an event, for example a PLC alarm bit or a pushbutton switch.

Both models are programmed using the easy to use GP-ProEX software package.

They are suitable for remote connectivity, upload/download, maintenance and control applications.
