Mean Well has expanded its second generation of enclosed type, single-output DC-DC converters with the introduction of the RSD-150 series. The 150 W series complies with the EN55015 railway standard, allowing it to fulfil the various requirements of vehicle applications. Featuring a 2:1 (±40%) input range and 4 kV d.c. input/output isolation, the converters are characterised by 5 G vibration withstand ability, working temperature range of -40°C to 70°C, protections for short circuit, overload, output over-voltage and input reverse polarity.
With a built-in constant current limiting circuit and 36 mm low-profile design, the RSD-150 series features up to 91% efficiency. The design of the converters conforms to ITE standards (IEC60950-1 and EN55022) as well as railway certificates (EN50155, IEC60571, IEC61373, EN50121-3-2) making them suitable to be used in all kinds of vehicles equipped with a DC power source.
Typical applications include railway, metro rapid transit system, subway, bus, leisure trailer and vessel use. In addition, along with external batteries as the energy source, they are suitable for harsh industrial installations with dust and moisture concerns, such as security systems, DC UPS systems and telecom equipment.
